Being open about what we put in our soap is one of our priorities. No endless ingredient lists with lots of abracadabra, but clear and easily explained materials.

Natural ingredients

100% ingredients from nature, no compromises. Oils, fragrance and color: All can be found in nature. Our soaps don’t need any synthetic tricks to shine!

Artisanal soap

A centuries old process that ensures a handmade product from a skilled craftsman. Scale-up is impossible and that makes it beautiful.

Background of 5Soaps

The spark that inspired 5Soaps originates from a Lavender farm in Wañaka, New Zealand. During a lengthy vacation in the fall of 2024, a small book describing the ancient art of cold processed soap was found. The curious mind of the founder was tickled and the chemically-educated engineer started experimenting. Some 150 test samples later, 5 soaps were created with only 5 ingredients. Hence the name, 5Soaps, was born.

The soaps of 5Soaps were designed with the KISS principle in mind: Keep It Stupid Simple. In other words, less is more. By removing unnecessary ingredients and additives, we go back to the basics of soapmaking, like people around the globe have done it for centuries. No fancy label dressing, just natural soap. That’s how the principles of 5Soaps came to life:

        3. A handmade, artisanal soap

Historically, the type of soap used can be traced back to the geographical location. Here in the Netherlands we used pig fat to create soap, while people in the Mediterranean region used olive oil. In other regions of the world, palm oil was frequently used. 5Soaps is a modified Castile soap, meaning it uses only olive oil as the source of oil. Please note that this type of soap can feel a bit drying at first. However, after a few minutes the hydrating ingredients come into play and give the skin a delightful clean and hydrated feeling.
